Without making too much noise, Antwerp also qualified for the Champions’ play-offs. Since the eighth day of the classic phase, the people of Antwerp never left the top 4. But once morest the teams that make up the latter, Antwerp’s record during the classic phase is mixed: 7/18 points. 7 points taken in the first part of the season. Indeed, during the second half of the season, the Antwerpers lost their three games once morest Union (0-2), Bruges (4-1) and Anderlecht (2-1).
The team and the game Brian Priske impress little (only 55 goals scored in the league). But Antwerp is formidable: of its 19 victories, 12 of them have been won by a goal difference. The people of Antwerp even imposed eight times with a score of 1-0. Their opponents are therefore warned for these play-offs: you have to beware of sleeping water.
One thing is certain, these Champions’ play-offs will be exciting. As a reminder, here is how the European tickets will be distributed:
Champion (1er) : will play the group stage of the Champions League
2nd : will play the 3rd qualifying round of the Champions League
3ème : will play the last qualifying round of the Conference League
4th : will face the winner of the Europe play-offs for a ticket to the 2nd qualifying round of the Conference League
If La Gantoise, winner of the Belgian Cup (qualified for the last qualifying round of the Europa League), wins the Europe play-offs, the play-off final will not take place. Ghent will keep their ticket for the last qualifying round of the Europa League. The 4th of the Champions’ play-offs will qualify directly for the 2nd qualifying round of the Conference League.
It should also be noted that Union Saint-Gilloise, winner of the classical phase, is already sure to argue the qualifications of Conference League.
