Champions League Quarter-Final: Borussia Dortmund’s Journey to Success at Atlético Madrid

“It’s tingling” at BVB!

In the quarter-finals of the Champions League, Borussia Dortmund will be guests at Atlético Madrid on Wednesday (9 p.m.) – an unpleasant but doable draw.

BVB can save a mixed season by reaching the semi-finals. The DFB Cup had already ended in the round of 16 (0-2 once morest Stuttgart), and in the league they were in fifth place, struggling to qualify for the Champions League – not enough for Dortmund’s demands.

Despite fluctuations in performance, coach Edin Terzić (41) is confident before the quarter-final clash: “We’ll go there, get a good result and then experience a fantastic night in Dortmund six days later.”

He has reason for this: While they are stumbling in the DFB Cup and league, the team in the premier class shows a different face. After all, BVB prevailed in the “group of death” once morest PSG, AC Milan and Newcastle. In the round of 16 they eliminated PSV Eindhoven.

Bitter: Due to thigh problems, BVB has to do without winger Donyell Malen (25) in Madrid. Sports director Sebastian Kehl (44) is confident despite the loss: “It’s tingling and we’re looking forward to the task.”

We can only hope that the tingling will bring BVB one step closer to their first Champions League semi-final since 2013.
