Champions League: Liverpool defeats Benfica in the closing stages

Barça wiped away, Dynamo Kyiv defeated – and Ajax eliminated! Benfica Lisbon has caused quite a stir in the Champions League so far. And now? Jürgen Klopp’s Liverpool also gets to feel how bold and cheeky the Portuguese play in this premier campaign.

The Reds still have enough to win – but with difficulty! In the quarter-final first leg in the Estadio da Luz there is a 3-1 victory.
“We’re living our dream this season and don’t want to stop it anytime soon,” said Benfica keeper Odysseas Vlachodimos before the game in the “kicker”.

However, Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konaté (17′) and Sadio Mané (34′) with their goals in the first half ensured that this dream was a long way off. Until Darwin Nunez, who played from the start in place of the recently recovered Nati striker Haris Seferovic, scored the first goal (49th)! The goal brings pepper into the game once more – and Lisbon’s hope back.

Klopp trembles on the sidelines! Are the Reds still screwing up the win? No, Luis Diaz redeems them in the 87th minute. With his 3:1! (mpe)
