On August 29 at 19:00 Kyiv time the draw for the main round took place in Monaco Champions League. 36 clubs will take part in the autumn stage of the Champions League.

Donetsk miner, The champion of Ukraine 2023/24, was in the second basket during the Champions League draw and received 8 opponents for the autumn and winter.
Shakhtar’s opponents were: Bayern (Germany), Borussia Dortmund (Germany), Atalanta (Italy), Arsenal (England), Young Boys (Switzerland), PSV (Netherlands), Brest (France), Bologna (Italy).
The dates of the matches will be determined later and announced on August 31.
There will be no groups in the current European Cup season, instead there will be a single table for 36 teams. The top 8 teams will advance to the 1/8 finals, and the clubs that take 9th to 24th places will play in the 1/16 finals.
The opponents in all rounds were determined by a single Swiss-system draw before the start of the main round. Before that, 36 participants were divided into 4 baskets of 9 teams, depending on the club rating.
Based on the results of the draw, each team will play matches against two other clubs from each basket (one game at home, the second away).
The Champions League will consist of 8 rounds. Interestingly, Shakhtar will have to play European Cup matches in January for the first time in history – the last rounds are scheduled for January 21–22 and January 29, 2025.
