Théo Bregnard is the winner of the Champignac d’or 2023. The municipal councilor of La Chaux-de-Fonds is rewarded for having declared in ArcInfo: “Non-gendered toilets are not pseudo-progress. It is a move towards recognition of a need.”

The silver Champignac goes to Vaudois national councilor Samuel Bendahan. He distinguished himself by two declarations on the airwaves of RTS: “It’s difficult, yes, because it’s obviously not easy” and “It’s the door open to all windows”.

The results were announced on Saturday evening at Mont-sur-Lausanne as part of the first edition of “Mont n’oeil”, a new festival dedicated to humor and the absurd.

During this ceremony, three “rising stars of champignacism” were also noticed, note the organizers. Célia Bertholet, journalist on RTS-La Première, gets the mention “Breathless” for having said: “The Boncourt cigarette factory has existed for two centuries (…), it is an economic lung for the village .”

Since 1988

Isabelle Moret, Vaud state councilor, is also honored with the mention “Jump into hyperspace-time”. At a Grand Council session, she said: “Indeed, in 2050, my own son will be younger than I am now. That tells you how close that is.”

Finally, Federal Councilor Elisabeth Baume-Schneider earned the “Zipper” mention for her sense of the formula on the RTS: “Before, we had a very conservative approach overall to what rape was: a man a woman and only penetration in the vagina. Whereas now, everything is much more open.”

Since 1988, the famous Champignac statuettes have rewarded the most beautiful oratorical gems from French-speaking Switzerland, selected during the year by readers of the newspaper La Distinction. This year, 40 candidates were in the running.
