Fatal swimming accident in Lake Zug

A swimming accident occurred at the “Hirsgarten” on Sunday followingnoon. A 77-year-old woman was killed.

Shortly before 5 p.m., the Zug police received a report that a swimming accident had occurred at the seaside resort of Hirsgarten in Cham. Swimmers discovered a lifeless woman regarding 200 meters from the shore. The woman was brought ashore with a stand-up paddle board and a private boat.

The woman was then resuscitated by private individuals. A few minutes later, the emergency doctor, rescue service and Rega arrived at the scene of the accident and continued resuscitation. As reported by the Zug police, the 77-year-old woman died on the spot despite the rapid medical assistance.

The exact circumstances of the swimming accident are still unclear and are the subject of further investigations.(sfr)
