FARGO — A second Chalili’s Chicken & Wings will come to roost soon in north Fargo.
The former Taco John’s building at 318 10th St. N. has been purchased by local restaurateur Henry Guo and is being refitted into an express version of Chalili’s.
The building changed hands a couple weeks ago. If everything goes well, the shop should be ready to do business by the end of January, Guo told The Forum. The dining area, which seats about 50 people, is being revamped, and a new hood has been installed as part of a kitchen upgrade.

“The new one will be more express,” Guo said. “They (customers) won’t need to wait. They can just pick it up, like Panda Express.”
The second Fargo location will also be operated by Ludece Charles, Guo’s partner in the Chalili’s concept.
Chalili’s
first hatched in Fargo-Moorhead
in May 2023 at 1100 45th St. S., in the Tower Park Plaza. Guo also owns Super Buffet in the same mall.
Guo said the menu will match that of the first Chalili’s location, with special recipe classic and spicy fried chicken and chicken sandwiches. Chicken tenders, nuggets and wings are available in classic, spicy and barbecue, too.
Chalili’s also offers side dishes such as French fries, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, coleslaw, Texas toast, biscuits and shrimp, as well as kids’ meals and apple pie for dessert.

Guo said people have been crowing about Chalili’s in their reviews. He likes the location of the second restaurant — not far from North Dakota State University — and believes hungry college students will enjoy having the shop nearby.
The restaurant’s website is chalilis.com, and the Facebook page has a link to a menu and to order.
The Taco John’s restaurant that served downtown Fargo at 318 10th St. N. closed in April 2023. By June of last year,
all of the remaining Fargo-Moorhead Taco John’s shops had met a similar fate
