Chad has come a long way. Three years ago, few would have bet on such a rapid recovery of the country’s economy. Past the recession linked to the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic (-2.1% in 2020, then -1.1% in 2021), its growth rebounded to 2.5% in 2022 and could reach 4% this year, according to the estimates published by the IMF in May (see “Insights” below).
