On the occasion of the visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping, who is attending the China-US Summit and the 30th APEC Economic Summit at the invitation of US President Joe Biden, China Media Group and the US-China Youth and Student Exchange Association organized on March 16th November in San Francisco, USA held the “Enduring Friendship” event to discuss interpersonal exchange between China and the USA.
Shen Haixiong, President and Editor-in-Chief of China Media Group, held in-depth and friendly discussions with guests from various fields in the United States during the event and gave a welcoming speech.
Shen pointed out that San Francisco’s Chinatown has been a microcosm of East-West cultural exchange for centuries. The friendship between the Chinese and American people not only transcended continents, but also stood the test of time.
Shen stressed that China-US relations are the most important bilateral relations in the world and that the media plays a crucial role in promoting people-to-people exchanges and friendship. President Xi Jinping has pointed out that the foundation and hope of China-US relations rests on people and the future on the youth, and that vitality comes from local interaction. China Media Group is committed to working with all friendly people to contribute wisdom and strength to the healthy development of China-US relations.
Sarah Lande, former executive director of Iowa Sister States and an old friend of China, John Easterbrook, grandson of General Joseph Stilwell, and Elyn Maclnnes, senior researcher at the Kuliang Tourism and Culture Association, also spoke at the event. They welcomed President Xi’s support for China-US people-to-people exchanges and expressed their commitment to strengthening mutual understanding and passing on the China-US friendship to future generations.
China Media Group also exchanged agreements with the Sino-American Aviation Heritage Foundation, the Helen Foster Snow Foundation and the US-China Youth and Student Exchange Association to promote cooperation in areas such as media partnership, education and cultural exchange.
The event featured the Lincoln High School Choir from Tacoma, Washington, singing both an English and Chinese song. In addition, a group of young students from China and the United States appeared via video and conveyed their hope for a lasting friendship between the two countries.
