The Moçâmedes EP Railway launches, this Saturday, the 16th, its first express train that will connect the cities of Lubango (Huíla) and Menongue (Cuando Cubango), with 200 passengers in the inaugural train, on a weekly frequency.
This is a new service that responds to the demand and comfort requirements of middle and upper class customers, as the company writes in a press release to which ANGOP had access.
“In view of the growing number of customers and the need to stratify the classes of passengers and users, the company will provide the express train, which leaves Lubango on Saturday for Menongue and returns on Monday, which in the first phase will be weekly”, reads the statement.
The company’s commercial director, Carlos Roll, said it is a more executive service, with 1st, 2nd and 3rd classes, less travel time (eight hours) than the normal train (11 hours), as it is differentiated and responds to the demands of customers with more purchasing power.
He also highlighted that prices vary from 2 thousand to 12 thousand kwanzas, with restaurant and bar services added.
Currently, between Lubango and Menongue, on a route of 806 kilometers, there are six weekly frequencies and each train, of a mixed nature (passengers and cargo), transports around 350 people, with a minimum fare of 2 thousand and 830 kwanzas and a maximum of 5 thousand and 405 kwanzas, respectively.
