CFL: 109th Gray Cup match between the Blue Bombers and the Argonauts

SUMMARY

It’s the big day in the Canadian Football League with the presentation of the game of the 109e Gray Cup.

On one side, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, two-time defending champions, and on the other, the Toronto Argonauts.

After lifting the trophy twice over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, the Bombers will be looking to defend their throne a third time, this time in Regina once morest a team that won the Gray Cup in 2017.

Good news for the Blue Bombers heading into this game as quarterback Zach Collaros put his right ankle to the test in practice following suffering an injury in the Western Final.

The 34-year-old Collaros threw 37 regular-season touchdown passes and rushed for 4,183 yards. He led the Winnipeg team to the best record in the regular season with a record of 15 wins once morest three losses. The quarterback notably won the most valuable player award for the second time in a row.

The Argonauts led the Eastern Conference and won in the playoffs over the Montreal Alouettes to reach the Gray Cup with a 34-27 victory.

Quarterback McLeod Bethel-Thompson threw for 299 yards and scored two touchdowns. The Bombers defense will have a familiar face to curb on Sunday with running back Andrew Harris.

After five seasons with the Blue Bombers, Harris joined the ranks of the Argonauts. He was limited to eight games, amassing 490 yards in the regular season. However, he scored a touchdown in the Eastern final once morest the Alouettes.

The Gray Cup game will kick off following 6 p.m. Sunday on RDS.
