CF Montreal announced Friday that it will not exercise its option on the contracts of defender Zachary Brault-Guillard and goalkeeper James Pantemis, in addition to confirming the expected departure of striker Romell Quioto, who will not be offered a new agreement.
Quioto therefore officially leaves the Montreal club with 38 goals scored in 94 games, the third best harvest in the team’s history. Brault-Guillard, a Franco-Canadian, is packing his bags following playing five seasons with the Bleu-Blanc-Noir, playing 106 games including 70 as a starter. Pantemis, for his part, lost his No. 1 goalie position last season with the emergence of Quebecer Jonathan Sirois.
The Montreal club has also announced that the contract options for midfielders Ahmed Hamdi and Sean Rea, as well as attackers Jean-Aniel Assi and Jojea Kwizera, will not be exercised either.
Four players have seen their services retained in anticipation of the 2024 season. These are goalkeeper Logan Ketterer, defenders Róbert Thorkelsson and Ousman Jabang, as well as attacker Ariel Lassiter.
In total, 19 players remain under contract for the 2024 season: goalkeeper Jonathan Sirois, defenders Fernando Álvarez, George Campbell, Gabriele Corbo, Aaron Herrera, and Joel Waterman, midfielders Mathieu Choinière, Bryce Duke, Ilias Iliadis, Lassi Lappalainen, Samuel Piette, Nathan Saliba, Victor Wanyama and Rida Zouhir, as well as attackers Chinonso Offor, Mahala Opoku, Sunusi Ibrahim, Mason Toye and Jules-Anthony Vilsaint.
