CF Montreal lets go of its best defender | JDQ – Le Journal de Québec

On Monday, CF Montreal continued the reconstruction of its defensive squad by sending Ruan, the only player to have played in all of the club’s games in Major League Soccer (MLS) this season, to FC Dallas.

With the 29-year-old Brazilian’s contract expiring at the end of the year, the Bleu-Blanc-Noir got the most out of his value by receiving a guaranteed $50,000 in general allocation money in 2024. An additional $100,000 could be sent to Montreal if certain performance-related conditions are met.

Ruan started 24 of CF’s 25 MLS games, logging over 2,000 minutes on the pitch. The right back stood out by scoring two goals and adding six assists.

Acquired from DC United last December, he has not played a single full season with the football club.

In recent weeks, Montreal has acquired fullbacks Tom Pearce, Dawid Bugaj and Jahkeele Marshall-Rutty, as well as attacking midfielder Caden Clark.
