The elite of French cinema walked the red carpet at the Olympia on Friday in Paris, before a high-tension Cesar ceremony.
Many were waiting for the words of Judith Godrèche, leading figure of French #MeToo, during this 49th edition. The actress spoke out on the subject, filing a complaint once morest directors Benoît Jacquot and Jacques Doillon for sexual and physical violence during her adolescence, which the latter deny. She left doubts surrounding her arrival.
The actress denounced the excesses of cinema, an art which sometimes covers “illicit trafficking in young girls”, in a highly anticipated intervention, with the subject of sexual violence on everyone’s minds.
“Why accept that this art that binds us is used as illicit trafficking in young girls? », asked the 51-year-old actress, who spoke out on the subject, by filing a complaint once morest the directors Benoît Jacquot and Jacques Doillon for sexual and physical violence during her adolescence, which the latter deny.
Justine Triet finally won the César for best director for Anatomy of a fall, becoming the second female filmmaker in history to receive this trophy. The film also received the César for best film.
“Being the second woman in history to receive the César” following Tonie Marshall in 2000, “it’s a bit scary and great at the same time, it gives hope for the future. We very much hope so in any case,” she declared, upon receiving this prize.
The German Sandra Hüller, 45, won the César for best actress for her role in Anatomy of a fall de Justine Triet.
