A Korean company has come up with a spherical robot companion that will help with household chores.
The annual largest technology exhibition CES has started in Las Vegas. As part of the event, Samsung presented “Bally,” a smart robotic assistant in the form of a ball on wheels. About this Samsung reported on the official site.
“Bally” rolls around the house behind a person like his right hand. The user can talk to the robot; neural networks operating on the ChatGPT principle are responsible for generating responses. For example, a person can ask regarding the weather or planned activities, and also talk regarding things that we are used to talking regarding with smart speakers.
Roboball can independently control the house. So, you can set a schedule so that following you leave for work, the robot drives around your home, turns off electrical appliances and gives the command to robotic vacuum cleaners to clean.
The main feature of Bally is the built-in projector. The robot can drive up to walls and display a large diagonal picture on the surface. This is especially convenient for home workouts or watching the news on TV. Video screensavers are also provided to create an atmosphere in the room that will match the user’s mood.
“Bally” can play music, receive phone calls, monitor pets, and also work in video security mode.
Samsung first introduced “Bally” 4 years ago at CES 2020. However, the first version (read regarding it here) was smaller, did not support neural networks and was not equipped with a projector. The company has not yet launched retail sales of the robotic ball. There is no word on the availability of the new model.
