CES 2023: Ring’s latest smart security cameras deliver peace of mind anywhere

With many security cameras on the market, it’s easier than ever to place a smart security guard in your home. But Ring wants to deliver the same peace of mind wherever you are, with cameras to suit every need. Like the brand’s new Peephole Cam and Car Cam, shown at CES.

Ring’s new Peephole Cam shrinks the video doorbell to fit snugly over existing peepholes. There’s even less tinkering required than with Ring Doorbells – just unscrew your existing peephole, pop in this new unit with brains, and you’re good to go. There is a rechargeable battery to insert, so no wiring is required.
The Peephole Cam is packed with smart features to make your door the one everyone is talking about. In addition to a traditional doorbell button, the camera detects door knocks and alerts you. It is a 1080p camera with night vision, two-way talk and motion detection. And, of course, it all streams straight to your smartphone to watch at your leisure. It’s only available in the US for now and will cost you $130 if you order directly from Ring.

Another novelty is the Car Cam – a miniature smart security camera for your engine. It’s a pretty smart dashcam, with cameras facing both inside and outside your vehicle. There is automatic collision or event detection when your vehicle is parked. Plus, you can shout to the built-in Alexa and have the camera record for your player anyway. It even offers night vision and additional LTE connectivity. Ring’s Car Cam is available for pre-order in the US for $200 and will begin shipping in February.

Amazon also made other technology announcements at CES. The brand recently updated Alexa devices with support for Matter, and is pulling out all the stops for the new smart home standard. He’s been working on voice AI for your car, future partner devices, EV charging cards through Alexa, and always wants us to keep Astro in our minds.
