CES 2022 – With the Outdoor Cam, Eve offers an outdoor camera with HomeKit compatible projector

Eve took advantage of CES 2022 to present her second camera. Unlike the first, the Outdoor Cam is intended for outdoors and offers lighting as a bonus. However, it also works exclusively with HomeKit.

If the manufacturers of surveillance cameras tend to shun HomeKit, Eve persists and signs with the Outdoor Cam. Second camera from the manufacturer after the equally soberly named Eve Cam, it is like its predecessor reserved for Apple users, but is intended, as its name suggests, outside. More surprisingly, the Eve Outdoor Cam also ensures the lighting function thanks to an imposing – and “powerful” according to Eve – built-in projector above the camera itself. It thus recalls the Netatmo Smart Outdoor Camera, moreover HomeKit compatible since an update rolled out last year, or the most recent LC3 and Rheita 100, respectively at Ezviz and Thomson.

As for the characteristics, Eve evokes recordings in 1080p and a field of view of 157 °. Infrared vision is obviously announced, while motion detection is entrusted to a PIR sensor with a field of view of 100 °. Since it works with HomeKit, and more precisely with HomeKit Secure Video, the Outdoor Cam benefits from the recognition of people, animals, vehicles and packages provided by Apple, not to mention the secure storage of recordings in iCloud. Remember, however, that Apple’s solution also has a small drawback: it is essential to have an iPad, an Apple TV or a HomePod to configure as a hub to connect and use the camera despite the use of a wifi connection 2, 4 GHz.

Finally, it should be noted that the Outdoor Cam includes a microphone and a speaker for voice exchanges and that it is IP55 certified – it must therefore withstand bad weather. Eve evokes a marketing on April 5, 2022 at a price of $ 250, but the price and the release date remain to be specified for France.
