After 30 years of professional life, 25 of which in the service of AXA, JOHNSON Boa Roger, CEO of AXA Côte d’Ivoire, is retiring. A new chapter opens for the man who will now serve as Chairman of the Board of Directors of AXA Côte d’Ivoire. The position of general director goes to Teyi LAWSON, until then head of the technical department.
The handover took place on October 19, 2023 in the presence of Meryem CHAMI, Africa Director of the Axa group, Thierry KEPEDEN, Director AXA CIMA and AXA Cameroon, Michel HASCOET, Directors of several subsidiaries, former Africa Director and former PCA of the Ivorian subsidiary and Latifa SAID, responsible for human resources in the area.

Born in Abengourou in 1960, Roger Boa Johnson knew, from an early age, how to demonstrate unfailing determination. After graduating from the law faculty of the University of Abidjan, he joined the International Insurance Institute of Yaoundé, thus affirming his desire for excellence in the insurance sector. His time at Compagnie Nationale d’Assurances, then at SIDAM, and finally at the AXA group, demonstrates a remarkable rise, crowned by his appointment as Managing Director of AXA Côte d’Ivoire.
His retirement speech, full of emotion and gratitude, provides insight into the man behind the professional. As he put it so well: “I am a happy man today. What a joy to have at this solemn moment, all the people who matter, all the people we love and all the people we meet both in professional life and in life in general. » These words reflect not only his gratitude to those who accompanied him, but also his humanity and his closeness to those around him.
“Together we have made AXA CI a major player in the Ivorian market and above all a reference in the CIMA zone. Thank you all, from the oldest to the youngest, because all the credit goes to you,” he says to his colleagues.
Speaking about his retirement, he said: “Now a page is turned and another opens full of hope and rich promise. » These words suggest that he does not intend to retreat into the shadows. On the contrary, with his appointment as Chairman of the Board of Directors, we can expect him to continue to influence, guide and make his valuable contribution to the world of insurance.
In his speech, Roger Boa Johnson paid tribute to Michel HASCOETformer Africa director, behind the promotion of African executives to the management of subsidiaries.

JOHNSON Boa Roger Eugène was born on December 30, 1960 in Abengourou, married and father of one child.
After obtaining the Baccalaureate in 1982 at the technical high school of Abidjan, he is oriented to the faculty of law of the University of Abidjan, where he obtained brilliantly after four years of study, Masters in Business Law. The same year, he was admitted to the entrance exam at the International Insurance Institute of Yaoundé (IIA) where will come out with the DESA (Higher Studies Diploma in Insurance)
He works successively:
– For the National Insurance Company (CNA) from 1988 to 1995,
– For SIDAM (Société Ivoirienne d’Assurances Mutuelle) from 1995 to 1998.
– He joined the AXA group, one of the world leaders in insurance, in December 1998 as head of the technical and reinsurance departmente. After several training courses and internships in the group’s French entities, he was appointed Deputy General Manager in 2004 Then Managing Director in 2010 replacing an expatriate.
He participated in the training of executives in the insurance sector at the National Polytechnic Institute and participated in several reforms in the insurance sector, both in Ivory Coast and in the CIMA zone (15 member countries)
