Patrick Pouyanné had already been made a Knight of the Legion of Honor on September 9, 2015. He was elevated to the rank of officer on Friday.

The CEO of TotalÉnergies Patrick Pouyanné is in the July 14 promotion of the Legion of Honor, noted BFMTV. In a decree published this Friday in the Official Journal, the boss of the hydrocarbon production and supply group is promoted to the rank of officer.

Patrick Pouyanné had already been made a Knight of the Legion of Honor on September 9, 2015.

At his side are big names from the world of culture, sport, or the Resistance, but also several figures from the economic world. This is the case, for example, of Denis Beau, first Deputy Governor of the Banque de France since January 2018.

Several controversies

Patrick Pouyanné is at the head of an oil group regularly singled out for its environmental impact. The native of Petit-Quevilly had caused controversy a few months ago by granting himself an increase of two million euros (+ 52%) in 2021.

“It’s not me who sets my compensation but the board of directors of TotalEnergies which sets it and the shareholders who approve it. It is certainly high but comparable to my peers in the CAC40 and much lower than that of the other majors Europeans and Americans” he defended himself, with supporting graphics.

Faced with the sling in his company, Patrick Pouyanné had tried, in vain, to put out the fire in early October 2022.

“The company’s results are exceptional in 2022 and we will not forget you”, he commented. “All employees, all our colleagues will receive their just reward on their payslip before the end of the year,” he also announced.
