CEO of Danske Bank C. Egeriis 15min stated that the Lithuanian division, which was among the three largest employers in the private sector, grew the most out of the entire group.
According to him, Lithuania attracts investors with motivated talents who have a good education and are strong in the fields of mathematics and technology, as well as with still competitive salaries. Foreign investors are also interested in Lithuanian technology startups and the manufacturing sector, C. Egeriis believes.

The head of Danske Bank also answered whether the peak of development has already been reached in Lithuania, whether the technology center of Danske Bank will not be lured away from our country by a cheaper country, as well as whether there are plans to start providing retail banking services in Lithuania again in the future and what is the probability that in the near future recession may be delayed for a year.
– Danske Bank is the sixth largest employer in Lithuania and the third largest in the private sector. Have you reached your limit with 4,700 employees or are you looking to hire more? What are your plans for this year and next?
– We have been in Lithuania for 11-12 years, right? We founded the division in Lithuania in 2012. and it grew the most of all places in the Danske Bank group.
As you say, we have over 4,700 people – over 1,500 of them are in technology. We have really grown the Lithuanian division into a real competence center that helps the Danske Bank group in many things we do in the bank. Someone from Lithuania contributes to almost everything that we provide to our clients in the bank – the scale is so big now and it covers the whole business.
Looking at the next year, I wouldn’t expect a significant increase in our headcount within the Danske Bank Group, as I would predict that new technologies, artificial intelligence and other things will help in the areas where we want to grow.
Someone from Lithuania contributes to everything that we provide to our customers at the bank.
I don’t expect us to get any bigger in terms of headcount, but I do expect that there will be areas where we hire people and invest more, and there will also be areas where, because of technology or because customers use us differently (in terms of branch network or other things), there will be some differences.
