Central – the bread crisis is over… This is what the Minister of Economy said

central- The Minister of Economy and Trade in the caretaker government, Amin Salam, confirmed that “no one in the Ministry of Economy or any department affiliated with it is under the law, and I am the first to provide information regarding the bread file and throwing accusations arbitrarily arranges judicial repercussions.”

He added, “I am assured that all wheat and flour distribution schedules have become accessible to anyone, and starting next week they will be on the ministry’s website. Our ministry is the only one on the ground with the citizen.”

“We will see breakthroughs in the bread crisis over the next two days,” he said.

swordFor his part, Antoine Seif, head of the Bakery Owners Syndicate in Mount Lebanon, indicated that “the Ministry of Economy put in place a mechanism a few days ago to distribute wheat to mills fairly.”

He stressed, via “Voice of Lebanon”, that “the bread is secure, the flour is there, and all the ovens are operating normally,” asking citizens not to rush, hoping that the crisis will end.

And he added, “Today is not the time for profit, and our work is to secure bread for the citizen. Last June, we were supposed to receive 27 thousand tons, while we received less by 7 or 8 thousand tons, and if there is external smuggling, it is the responsibility of the state, considering that the cause of the crisis Not as a result of using the flour in a misplaced manner, but because of the lack of wheat.”

He explained that “if the subsidy is lifted permanently, the price of a bundle of bread will be 30 thousand to 32 thousand pounds,” stressing that “the wheat is sufficient for a period of 40 days, and there is a quantity on the way to the mills, and it will be subsidized by the Banque du Liban.”
