For the second day in a row, Prime Minister-designate Najib Mikati continues the non-binding parliamentary consultations in the House of Representatives.
In the meantime, he arrived at the House of Representatives, and said in response to a question: “Be optimistic regarding the good and you will find it.”
Makhzoumi: Mikati began his meetings by meeting MP Fouad Makhzoumi. Who said following the meeting: We raised several issues before him. First, what is the government’s position on “the people, the army and the resistance”, and will quotas take place once more? As for the amendments to the recovery plan, will depositors be harmed first? Will the law on the independence of the judiciary be activated, and what will happen in the file of the port explosion? Will depositors’ money be refunded? Will the public procurement law be applied? As for the file of the displaced, is there a specific policy? If these questions are not answered, this means that we will be facing the continuity of the quota policy, and therefore we will not give the government confidence.
meaning: As for Representative Hassan Murad, following his meeting with Mikati, he said: “This government must come up with a quick ministerial statement, and everyone must participate in this government to develop a quick emergency plan to save the country.”
He added, “We asked to return the Ministry of Planning to properly re-plan this country.”
Talusian: For his part, MP Jean Taluzian said: “I asked Mikati, if he was unable to form a government at the end of the week, to tell the Lebanese regarding the reason for this delay.”
He added: “People are interested in eating, drinking and medicine, and that it should not be a recovery plan at the expense of depositors.”
bozri: After meeting Mikati, MP Abdul Rahman Al-Bizri said: “We have to deal positively with all files to help people overcome the difficult stage, and we hope that it will not be only a transitional stage, but rather a stage to find actual solutions.”
