Central Java won its first gold medal from the aero sport discipline of aeromodelling in the rope control team racing or F2C event at the 2024 National Sports Week (PON) at Maimun Saleh Air Force Base, Sabang City, Aceh.

Central Java’s first gold from aeromodelling was won by Iyan Cahya Ismail as pilot and his mechanic Kusmanto.

“The gold medal in the F2C category was won by Central Java, silver by DI Yogyakarta, and bronze by West Java,” said Technical Delegate for Aeromodelling PON 2024 Arya Sidharta as reported by BetweenFriday (13/9).

He explained that the F2C aeromodelling competition is almost the same as the F2D or rope control air combat, only different in the way of playing. The F2D number is played by fighting or combat, while the F2C is played by racing.

“So F2C is a race, it’s fast, including here there has to be a pit stop, there has to be a mechanic servicing the plane, restarting the engine, flying again,” he said.

Arya explained that this year’s PON aeromodelling competition had started since Tuesday (10/9) until 19 September.

“For aeromodelling, there is one competition category per day, with the final in the afternoon,” said Arya.

In addition to the F2C number, his party has also completed the F2D number competition with the gold medal won by Erick Limanhadi from East Java, silver won by Iyan Cahya Ismail from Central Java, and the bronze medal secured by Meygi Adi Priyanto from West Kalimantan.

Then, the gold medal for the men’s free pull A2 or F1A number was won by Wisnu Dwi Atmojo from Banten, silver was won by Jajang Nur Jaman from West Java, and bronze was won by Astak Triyo Wijnarko from West Kalimantan.

While the gold medal in the women’s free pull A2 or F1A number was won by Novita Sapitri from West Java, silver was won by Dicka Cahya Putri from East Java, and bronze was won by Nanik Nofianti from Papua. (Z-6)
