A SURVEY from the Transportation Policy Agency (BKT) of the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) noted that Central Java is the favorite province for travelers. This year, it is estimated that the number of travelers to Central Java will reach 61.6 million people.
“Central Java is still the favorite in 2024 at 31.81 percent or equal to 61.6 million. So indeed Central Java is both from Jabodetabek and East Java, so you can meet it in the Central Java area,” said Head of BKT Ministry of Transportation Robby Kurniawan in virtual press conference ‘Preparation and Operation Plan for Eid Transport 2024’, Sunday (17/3).
Meanwhile, several provinces most visited by travelers include East Java with 19.44% or 37.6 million people. Then, West Java was visited by 16.59% of homecoming travelers or 32.1 million people.
Homecoming travelers to the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) reached 11.7 million people or 6.06%. Then, DKI Jakarta had 6.4 million people or 3.35%.
Robby also revealed the areas where most of the travelers came from. Namely, there are 31.3 million homecoming travelers from East Java or 16.17%.
Furthermore, there were 28.43 million homecomers from Jabodetabek or 14.68%. Homecomers from Central Java amounted to 13.48% or 26.11 million people.

“West Java non-Bodebek 11.7% or 22.7 million people. Then, North Sumatra 10.63 million people or 5.51%,” explained Robby.
The BKT survey was conducted nationally in 38 provinces and involved 15 thousand respondents. Samples use the Slovin formula with online collection.
The analysis method uses descriptive, estimation and cross-sectional analysis. The margin of error for the survey reached 0.82%. (Z-3)
