Palakkad – Finance Minister KN Balagopal has said that the central government has cut 332 crore rupees from the IGST allocation to the state in the month of November. This will cause severe economic crisis in the state. He also said that he has given a letter to the central government once morest this. He was speaking at a press conference in Palakkad on the occasion of the New Kerala Assembly.
“It has not been clarified in what manner the central government reduced the money. A reduction of Rs 332 crore has been made once morest the expected Rs 1,452 crore this month. This amount was supposed to be received at the end of November. A letter was received from the central government on 29th regarding the reduction of the amount. The amount was deducted without giving any reason. This affects all states.
The share to be received by Kerala from the GST collected there has been reduced for the manufactured goods sold in Kerala. These cuts come at a time when many funds are not available. It is not known on what basis the amount was reduced. Including Rs 6,000 crore spent by the state government, a total of Rs 57,000 crore is to be received from the Centre. The central government is not giving equal consideration to the states” – KN Balagopal said.
