Washington (Archyde.com) – After the digital format in the Corona year 2020, the major central bankers’ conference in Jackson Hole will once more be a face-to-face event this summer.
This was announced by the regional US Federal Reserve for the district of Kansas City on Thursday. It organizes the annual conference with top monetary authorities from all over the world. According to the Fed, all health and safety precautions necessary in the wake of the corona pandemic will apply to the meeting planned for August 26-28 in the state of Wyoming. Speeches at the conference will be made available to the public online and in real time.
On previous occasions, central bankers have repeatedly used the meeting to communicate monetary policy decisions. Fed observers are already speculating that US Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell might do the same in August. If the upturn strengthens in the course of the vaccination campaign in the USA, it might give an indication at the conference when the Fed intends to start reducing its economic stimulus packages. It is currently supporting the economy, which has been hit by the Corona crisis, with monthly cash injections of 120 billion dollars.
In August 2020, the venue, the historic Jackson Lake Lodge hotel in Grand Teton National Park at the foot of the Rocky Mountains, was closed due to the Corona crisis. Hosted by the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, the conference has been held annually since 1978, and in Jackson Hole since 1982.
