The International Football Association (FIFA) announced on Monday that foreign players and coaches in the Russian and Ukrainian championships can “terminate” their contracts unilaterally and play freely in other places, starting from the spring.
The International Federation explained that for foreign players who are professional in Russia, who have been excluded from international sports competitions and competitions since the war on Ukraine, the aim is to “facilitate the departure” of all those who have not reached an agreement with their clubs.
He added that they will have the “right to terminate their contracts unilaterally” before June 30, 2022, and they will be able to participate in another tournament from “April 7 at the latest”, although the period is outside the transfer window.
He added that foreign players and coaches in Ukraine would benefit from the same conditions to enable them to “work and get a salary” while “protecting Ukrainian clubs” whose competitions were suspended due to the clashes.
The International Federation confirmed that it will treat minors fleeing Ukraine as minor refugees, and thus they can enter the international transfer market normally closed to players under the age of 18.
The International Federation renewed its condemnation of the use of force by Russia in Ukraine, and called for a “rapid cessation of hostilities”.
