Cenquer launches second stage of treatment with compression clothing for burn patients

Asuncion, IP Agency.- The National Centre for Burns and Reconstructive Surgery (Cenquer) presents the second stage of the project for treating burn patients with compression clothing. After its implementation in paediatric patients, the treatment will be used in adult patients.

The director of the Center, Saúl Zaputovich, highlighted the application of this treatment in the public health system. “With self-management and with the collaboration of many friends we managed to train our clothing staff to make the clothes and acquire the necessary machines and fabrics,” he said.

Compression garments are used for the rehabilitation of burn patients. In the first phase, 152 pediatric patients, aged 3 months to 16 years, benefited from 211 compression garments.

Zaputovich highlighted the implementation of this service at Cenquer, given the high cost of the garments and the benefits it generates for patients.

Patients undergoing rehabilitation treatment are measured for the production of compression clothing, which in many cases must be worn 24 hours a day for at least a year.

Following the good results in paediatric patients, the service will be offered to adult patients in rehabilitation at Cenquer starting this Tuesday.
