Schwellbrunn AR: When the cell phone falls, he loses control of his car

A 37-year-old drove his car from Waldstatt AR shortly following 8.30 a.m. on Tuesday towards Schönengrund. In the Brisig area, he wanted to turn right onto the side road to Schwellbrunn AR. The driver’s cell phone fell out of the holder, as the Appenzell Ausserrhoden cantonal police write. Distracted by this circumstance, the 37-year-old lost control of his car.
The car then went over the right-hand side of the road and crashed sideways into a road signal and then head-on into a tree. The car then rolled backwards into a forecourt and crashed into a parked trailer. The driver was not injured. Damage to the vehicles amounted to several thousand francs.
Accident with stolen forklift
The cantonal police in St. Gallen also reported two accidents on Monday. At 6:50 a.m. near Schlosswis there was an accident involving a stolen forklift. A 22-year-old man stole the work machine from a forest hut and drove it on Chrüzeggstrasse in the direction of Wattwil SG Zentrum.
He lost control of the forklift truck at Schlosswies, but was still able to jump off the vehicle. The forklift fell regarding 20 meters down a steep meadow and came to a standstill following colliding with a fork. There was great damage.
E-bike rider falls down the slope
A bicycle accident occurred in Necker SG on Monday followingnoon. A 58-year-old woman was riding her e-bike and a second 28-year-old e-bike rider on a dirt road from Loch in the direction of Nutzhalden. She intended to overtake the 28-year-old and lost her balance in the process.
As a result, the 58-year-old fell down a sloping embankment with her e-bike. She suffered unspecified injuries in the accident and was flown to the hospital by Rega.
