“I can’t judge her state of health, but during the time she was with us, she was the Céline we know, full of energy, smiling, funny, friendly, simple, endearing. It was very comforting.”
Chantal Machabée experienced a special moment, Monday evening, when Céline Dion and her family, in what was her first public outing since the announcement of her illness, went to meet the players and staff of the Montreal Canadiens following the match once morest the Vegas Golden Knights.

Taking advantage of CH’s visit to Las Vegas, a representative of the singer contacted the club and asked if she might visit the locker room with her children and loved ones following the game.
“When they arrived, I told them that I was going to get the players to introduce them to them and that they would be really happy to see them. She said “I don’t want to disturb”. I replied “no, no, it’s an honor to receive you”,” relates Chantal Machabée, who published, on Tuesday morning, a photo that went viral of her meeting with Céline on her Instagram account.
A chat with the coach
For 45 minutes, Céline spoke and took photos with everyone, especially with head coach Martin St-Louis, who was able to show her all his admiration.

“She looked really good, resplendent. She chatted a lot, made lots of jokes. It was a great evening for Céline. It was really fun. […] We were very moved to see her like that, to see her well,” relates Chantal Machabée.
The CH players were all amazed to see her in the locker room.
“The faces of the players… says Ms. Machabée. My assistant went to look for Samuel Montembeault and Rafael Harvey-Pinard, who were going into the shower, to tell them that Céline was in the locker room and they didn’t believe him. When they arrived, they did oh my god! They took photos in wetsuits because they didn’t want to miss their chance.”
“Stars in the eyes”
Eventually, the whole team got their moment with the star. “Word got around and once they had showered they came one by one, Nick and Cole came at the same time, then Gally, Pezzetta. They were all super impressed. There wasn’t one who didn’t show up. Everyone had stars in their eyes.”

According to Chantal Machabée, Céline Dion’s visit was the topic of conversation at lunch on Tuesday, before leaving for Phoenix, where the Canadian faces the Coyotes on Thursday. “The players came to me to ask me to send them the photos they took with her.”
