As part of the celebration of International Women’s Day, the NGO SOS Cancer organized at its headquarters, with the support of the BOA Niger Foundation, an awareness session followed by screening. The launch of the activities was chaired by the representative of the president of the BOA Niger foundation, Ms. Delanne Aline, in the presence of the Deputy Secretary General of the said NGO, Ms. Ali Hadiza, members of the BOA Niger foundation, other technical partners and financiers of SOS Cancer as well as several women from Niamey and Makolondi.
In her speech at the launch of the activities, Ms. Delanne Aline first welcomed on behalf of the president of the foundation to the 6th edition of the free screening sessions for cervical cancer, early detection of cancer breast and treatment of precancerous cells. At the same time, the representative of the president of the BOA Niger foundation, Ms. Delanne Aline, indicated that if the choice of this year is focused on this center, it is because it has spared no effort in this fight. once morest this disease, which the NGO SOS Cancer has made its hobbyhorse.
Continuing her speech, Mrs. Delanne Ali also announced that in addition to the cancer screening campaign and the guarantee of care for 1,000 beneficiary women, the foundation plans to purchase nine thermal ablation devices for the benefit health reproduction centers in the country, for the management of precancerous lesions in collaboration with UNICEF, the supervisory ministry and SOS Cancer. In closing her remarks, Mrs. Delanne Aline reaffirmed the firm commitment of the BOA Niger Foundation to fight once morest cancer.
For her part, taking the floor of the SGA of the NGO SOS Cancer, Ms. Ali Hadiza, on behalf of the said structure and on her own behalf, expressed her gratitude to the BOA Niger foundation for its support and contribution to the good cause which is the fight once morest breast and cervical cancer.
Ms. Ali Hadiza indicated that March 8, dedicated to International Women’s Rights Day, is a unique opportunity for women to claim their right to health. For her, the right to health for women goes through that of not suffering and dying from a preventable disease such as cancer of the cervix.
Indeed, according to estimates given by the SGA, Mrs. Ali Hadiza, in Niger in 2020 more than 80% of patients diagnosed with cervical cancer lost their lives prematurely. The death of these women at the most productive age of their lives is a real societal tragedy.
Thus, to deal with this scourge, the NGO SOS cancer with the essential support of the BOA Niger foundation has undertaken to launch this screening campaign for 1,000 women and their free care during the week of March 8, c that is to say from March 6 to 10, 2023. This ceremony was sanctioned by screening sessions for several women carried out by qualified doctors.
As a reminder, the BOA Niger Foundation, on the occasion of this commemoration, organizes every year, in collaboration with specialized health centers, donations of pharmaceutical products or screening campaigns for breast and cervical cancer. in underprivileged and densely populated areas.
