These women are redefining opportunities in a traditionally male-dominated industry.
Today, with the African Energy Chamber (AEC), we are discovering rising stars that are paving the way for energy poverty to become history by 2030.

Gbemisola Adeyemi Afolabi, Junior : Geoscientist, AMNI International
Adeyemi Afolabi, an aspiring junior geoscientist at AMNI International, is an emerging force in the energy sector. With a master’s degree in energy geosciences from Rice University, she brings a fresh perspective to her role. Ms. Adeyemi’s education, coupled with her passion for geosciences, underscores her desire to explore and understand the Earth’s resources. Afolabi’s commitment to harnessing scientific knowledge to find practical energy solutions makes her a promising talent within AMNI International.
Ibilola Akinnola, LNG Broker, Maersk
Ibilola Akinnola has a wealth of legal and logistics experience and represents someone whose creativity, commitment and drive have moved the global energy industry forward. A barrister and barrister graduated from the Supreme Court of Nigeria, Ibilola Akinnola went on to obtain a master’s degree in international maritime law at Queen Mary University of London. Today, she works for integrated logistics company Maersk as an LNG ship broker, and continues to make a lasting impact on the industry.
Rekik Bekele, PDG and founder of Green Scene Energy

Sandra Chukwudozie, PDG, Salpha Energy
Sandra Chukwudozie is the Founder and CEO of Salpha Energy, a company dedicated to providing clean, affordable and innovative energy solutions for a carbon neutral future. She is also the executive director of Dozzy, one of Africa’s largest oil storage facilities. After graduating from the University of Dundee in 2015, Chukwudozie has dedicated her professional life to supporting economic growth through energy development, gaining experience in international management, industrial relations and economy. Her sense of innovation, resilience and ability to embrace change have made her a leader in her field and an inspiration to many across the industry.
Nadia Simao da Costa, Human Resources Analytics Supervisor, Chevron
Nadia Simao da Costa is Chevron’s Human Resources Analytics Supervisor and is the youngest person to be selected to lead the company’s human resources in Angola. Eghosa Ebube, Portfolio Analyst, Chevron Nigeria
Eghosa Ebube, first a project engineer and now a portfolio analyst at Chevron, a global energy giant, brings great expertise. Having honed her skills in various roles including that of an onshore construction engineer, she has established herself as a force to be reckoned with in the energy industry. Katuiscia Laurence Ewane, General Field Engineer, SLB
Holder of a master’s degree in industrial engineering from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure Polytechnique in Cameroon, Katuiscia Laurence Ewane worked for several years for the global energy services company SLB. She currently serves as the General Field Engineer for the company and has spearheaded several successful initiatives including a new approach to integrating drilling fluids and cementing fluids, performing a of complex cementation on Mount Cameroon and the establishment of a community outreach program as part of SLB’s Educational Development Excellence Program. A Harvard Kennedy School graduate with over 14 years of experience in leadership, energy and politics, Taimi Itembu is an inspiration in the Namibian energy sector. She has held various positions in the Namibian government, demonstrating her aptitude for political dialogue and building partnerships to foster the transformation of the region. His leadership in energy and exploration includes advocating for African strategy, investment protection and an enabling operating environment; as an industry expert, she represents a beacon for influential leadership.
Anine Kilian: Editor-in-Chief, Energy Capital & Power

Ubuhle Noluti Mtetwa, Country Director, Secondary Logistics, bp South Africa
A graduate in transport economics and logistics management, Ubuhle Noluti Mtetwa leads innovative projects in a sector traditionally dominated by men. In a relatively short period of time, Ms Mtetwa rose through the ranks at bp, rising from logistics intern to national director of secondary distribution. Today, she supports diversity efforts, using her platform to not only advance logistics in Africa’s energy industry, but also to support the advancement of others.
Faith Musimenta, Principal Petroleum Economic and Financial Analyst, Uganda Petroleum Authority
Faith Musimenta is currently a Senior Economic and Financial Analyst for Oil at the Petroleum Authority of Uganda (PAU), where she uses her skills in investment analysis to develop financial models for oil and gas as part of multi-billion dollar projects. After completing her studies at the University of Dundee, Ms Musimenta worked for various financial institutions including Citi Bank, Diamond Trust Bank and DFCU Bank. She is an inspiration to women in the African financial sector and continues to advocate for the inclusion, sustainability and development of Uganda’s oil and gas industry.
Nancy Asantewah Nkansah, Resource Manager: West Africa Planning and Supply Chain, SLB
