The president of the Chamber of Deputies, Cecilia Moreau, urged this Monday that Congress “continue generating opportunities, such as the creation of new quality public universities” and added that “today reality poses enormous challenges for the future, especially for those of us who believe in the public as an engine of development and social justice”.
“In this time as president of the Chamber of Deputies, I promise to work to give the half sanction to those public universities that have not yet been achieved, which will also generate growth in those places because following that inclusion process education, those cities are going to grow, those dreams are going to be achieved, and each person who receives it is going to stay collaborating in their place, with their family, with their friends, with their roots”, Moreau maintained.
In this sense, he pointed out that “we are just a few months away from celebrating the 40th anniversary of democracy. This anniversary occurs in a very complicated context, with deeply regressive narratives that have a clear objective: to retrace the path traveled in these four decades to restore an order where not all of us have a place and where the tools that allow this path of inclusion would also be denied. ”.
The head of the Lower House spoke in such a way during the Seminar “Creation of Public Universities: Inclusion, democratization and closeness”, within the framework of 40 years of democracy, in a meeting held in the Delia Parodi Hall, together with deputies , referents of education and graduates of national public universities.
“From ’83 to the present, with the lights and shadows that we have had in each of the processes, the institutions have doubled, the enrollment of students has quadrupled, and the offer of careers has been amplified,” said Moreau. and added that “I am convinced that everyone who goes through a public university not only leaves with a degree, but also with the ability to generate critical thinking.”
Likewise, the national deputy Alicia Aparicio, author of the project to create the Universidad del Delta, invited to “give added value to public and free universities, because it is the best way to defend the future of our country.”
Meanwhile, the rector of the National University of Moreno, Hugo Andrade, said that “one of the challenges of the democratization of knowledge is the creation of new universities, so that more and more boys and girls can achieve a higher level of studies.” .
On the other hand, Laura Gómez, a graduate of Labor Relations from the Arturo Jauretche University, recounted her experience as a student at a national university and advocated for the creation of higher houses of study in Argentina.
