CDMX Prosecutor’s Office opens investigation into contaminated water in the Benito Juárez mayor’s office

The Attorney General’s Office of Mexico City launched an investigation in relation to an alleged act of sabotage that would have affected public water services in the Benito Juárez mayor’s office.

According to Mexico City Water System (Sacmex)a formal complaint was filed on April 17 with the capital department in which it specifically refers to the Alfonso XIII Well, where it is suspected that the alleged act of sabotage took place.

Likewise, it is alleged that this incident would have resulted in the contamination of water supply that reached the homes of the aforementioned mayor’s office, a problem that affected the residents of different neighborhoods, causing dermatological lesions.

In that sense, the capital prosecutor’s office opened a research portfolio to determine the circumstances surrounding this incident and to identify those responsible for the alleged sabotage. The objective of this investigation is to clarify the facts and ensure that the necessary measures are applied to prevent future similar incidents.

Meanwhile, authorities of the Sacmex They expressed their concern regarding this issue and highlighted their commitment to fully collaborate with the authorities in the ongoing investigation. Likewise, they reiterated that they are willing to guarantee the quality and safety of the water supply for the inhabitants of the country’s capital.

It is worth mentioning that this alleged act of sabotage has generated concern among residents of the Benito Juárez mayor’s officewho have expressed their indignation at the possibility that their health and well-being have been compromised by this action, which is why they demonstrated by blocking the Insurgentes Avenue for several days, which caused damage to motorists and Metrobús users that passes through the area.
