If the experience of the past means anything, it is possible that we have something very pleasant! Recently founded by CD Projekt Red alumni, the young studio Dark Passenger unveiled its first project: a multiplayer action/stealth game set in feudal Japan.
We find at the head of this game Jakub Ben et Marcin Michalski, who served as cinematic artist and art team coordinator at CD Projekt Red, respectively; so they worked actively on The Witcher 3 : Wild Hunt, Gwent et Thronebreakerand were providers on Cyberpunk 2077 via Realtime Warriors. Clearly, that’s not a bad resume!
Dark Passenger is in active recruitment phase, so don’t expect any big announcements any time soon. We know, however, that this first project will support both the PvP that co-op PvEsera multiplayer and built with the good pretty Unreal Engine 5. Last but not least, the prospect will be The first person, but we will be able to see our character in the third person in some sequences; this is particularly important, since the official website specifies that the customisation will be very extensive, both in terms of character and equipment.
Solo experience will be limited to training dojosbut the heart of the experience will be played with several people: we will thus have matches where ” stealth/multiplayer action will come with significant character progression“. While waiting to see concretely what this gives in game, you can already discover the first official concepts below:
Of course, the whole thing is still at a stage embryonic, and we remind you once once more that Dark Passenger is still recruiting its teams. It will therefore be necessary to count a few years to see what this project actually consists of, whose gameplay seems rather hybrid; despite everything, the feudal japan offers an extremely rich context, and both Ben and Michalski have already indicated their interest in ” explore the possibilities of their fledgling license. With the recent Ghost of Tsushima or a hypothetical Assassin’s Creed located in Japanthere is no doubt that the Land of the Rising Sun is more attractive than ever !
