As a reminder, the multiplayer component was confirmed in September 2019 as part of Cyberpunk 2077 and was supposed to develop into a separate project. Spring 2021 plans changed and multiplayer decided to do it once more game mode.

Since then, nothing has been heard from official sources regarding the Cyberpunk 2077 network element. According to Weber, the studio was busy fixing the core game following problematic startup — multiplayer has become a victim of this process.

“Changing priorities meant abandoning other projects. With Cyberpunk, we wanted to do a lot at once, but in the end we had to focus and ask ourselves: “What is really important now? Yes, let’s make this element really good” ”Weber explained.

In March 2021, CD Projekt CEO Adam Kicinski said that the company wants to see multiplayer in its future games, but the studio will continue to make single-player, story-driven, big-budget RPGs.

What form these online elements will take remains to be seen, but CD Projekt RED is planning Orion is the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, which will be created an American team of development veterans original game.

Cyberpunk 2077 is available on PC (Steam, GOG, EGS), PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S. In 2023, the game will receive the Phantom Liberty story expansion on PC and current-gen consoles.
