The Corruption Eradication COMMISSION (KPK) detained former Bandung City Regional Secretary (Sekda) Ema Sumarna in connection with an alleged bribery case for procuring CCTV in her area. He is suspected of pocketing IDR 1 billion.

“Details of the money received by the suspect ES (Ema Sumarna) amounted to at least IDR 1 billion,” said Corruption Eradication Commission Investigation Director Asep Guntur Rahayu at the KPK’s Red and White Building, South Jakarta, Thursday (26/9).

Hot money in this case was also received by three other suspects. They are former Bandung DPRD members Riantono, Achmad Nugraha, and Ferry Cahyadi Risma Fury.

“The other suspects are members of the DPRD with a total of at least IDR 1 billion and have obtained jobs within the Bandung City Department,” said Asep.

This case is a development of the sting operation (OTT) in Bandung which previously ensnared former Bandung Mayor Yana Mulyana. Another case was opened because the Corruption Eradication Committee discovered new facts at the investigation and trial stage of a similar case previously.

In this case, Ema is suspected of receiving gratification from the Transportation Service and others from 2020 to 2024. The gift was intended to facilitate an additional budget for discussions on the 2022 revised APDB at the Bandung City Transportation Department. (J-2)
