The plenary session of the Constitutional Convention rejected most of the articles proposed by the Political System Commission, rules that were returned to the instance to be reformulated.

The broad rejection was due to the inability to reach an agreement regarding certain issues where knots were generated, as the powers of the entity that would replace the Senate.

The Communist Party accused “irresponsibility” on the part of some sectors, which according to them called to “reject everything.”

The conventional member of the Communist Party (PC), Marcos Barraza, targeted the Socialist Party and the former agreement, for “blur” an agreement that proposed the creation of a “territorial council”.

The territorial council was the proposal of the left: PC, Broad Front and independents. This instance had minority powers, and only focused on territorial legislation.

This is how the differences arose.. The Socialist Party and other sectors proposed a more robust chamber with more powers.

The conventional socialist, Pedro Muñoz, called for a downplaying of what happened in the plenary session, and charged that the Communist Party acted opportunistically during Thursday’s session.

In this way, the only thing that was approved is that related to the Plurinational State. However, the discussion in particular is still missing.

It is expected that during this weekend the talks advance, and an agreement can be reached that attracts the support of the majority of the plenary.
