The U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced this week that it has expanded its entry control system to more U.S. airports in the country. Do you want to know which ones they are?
For example, through its official website, it detailed that it will expand the mobile passport control (MPC) system to Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport. This program is already available in fifty-one different sites across the country, to strengthen security when people enter and leave North America.
They said that to facilitate entry into the United States, they are expanding the implementation of the mobile passport control (MPC) system. Currently, this system is operational in 51 locations, including 33 U.S. international airports, 14 pre-clearance airports and four seaports of entry.
According to the CBP release, the Mobile Passport program allows eligible citizens to submit their travel document, photograph and customs declaration information through a mobile application, which significantly reduces wait time, decongests the area and improves processing efficiency.
CBP control at U.S. entry airports
CBP Chief Operating Officer Marty Raybon told reporters the importance of installing new checkpoints at U.S. airports.
“Mobile passport control represents a significant advancement in improving the international travel experience by offering travelers additional options to expedite their entry (…) MPC streamlines the process by shortening passport control screening time and reducing overall wait time,” he added.
CBP’s MPC mobile app is available for free download on mobile phones. Once installed, users must create a profile with their passport information before arriving at a checkpoint. According to CBP, families can create up to twelve profiles, but only one household can submit an MPC transaction.
