Initiated by Hubert Curien in 1991, the Fête de la Science is aimed at all audiences and helps to promote the sharing of knowledge between scientists and citizens.
It takes place this year from October 4 to 14 under the leadership of the Ministry of Higher Education and Research. in Cazères, the Science Festival returns in the form of a scientific journey around the theme “From the river to the ocean, the Garonne to the Atlantic”. “As every year, science and art will be accessible to everyone, everywhere in the city. Alongside the events intended for the general public, the invited researchers will travel to the educational establishments of Cazères. We thank them for their mobilization to popularize their knowledge in rural areas” underline the organizers. And the program promises to be very rich:
In elementary schools:
– Scientific talk with Jonathan Rolland on salmon and its migration (Capucins school, CM2 class and Palaminy school, CM1-CM2 class)
– Cabinet of curiosities (Capucins school, CM2 class)
At Le Plantaurel college:
– Scientific workshop on the SWOT satellite with Cédric Vigreux (3rd grade, physics course).
– Cabinet of curiosities (5th and 3rd grade, French lessons).
At Martin Malvy high school:
– Scientific talk with Bernard Monod and Pierre Le Cointe on “geology and how the Garonne fits into its context and shapes it, and groundwater linked to the Garonne and their use” (final year SVT specialty classes)
– Scientific talk with Natacha Nikolic on “the impacts of climate and anthropogenic change on the migration of fish from the Garonne to the Atlantic” (student eco-delegates).
