Dr. Muhammad Shabib, Pediatrics and Neonatology Consultant at Shubra General Hospital, said that many children get colds and colds frequently and continuously throughout the year, noting that this has many medical reasons.

Shabib explained to Youm7: Allergic rhinitis One of the reasons why your child frequently gets colds is that the symptoms of a cold appear with a “prickly nose” and recur in certain “seasons” or with exposure to a specific trigger, such as: dirt, pollen, pet dander, such as: cats, or certain smells, and these are symptoms of nasal allergy. .

He explained that one of the causes of recurrent colds in children is recurrent infection, as lack of ventilation, lack of health awareness regarding using masks, not coughing in the face, isolating children with coughs, using personal items for students, and lack of awareness of general hygiene, such as the importance of washing hands on a regular basis, are among the most common causes of recurrent illness in children.

He pointed out that one of the causes of recurrent colds is that the child is a carrier of the microbe, as the microbe is present in the nose, throat, and sinuses as a result of an incomplete antibiotic or an incomplete dose, and it is detected with a throat swab, as well as the presence of bacteria on the body, hands, skin, and even the surfaces of bathrooms and toilets.

He stressed that polyps are one of the causes of recurrent colds, so removing polyps makes the symptoms improve and become better in 70% of cases.
