The original announcement of Lufthansa Corporation said the information system problem the company experienced might be caused by construction activities railway in the city of Frankfurt am Main.

According to Lufthansa, on February 15, during the construction of the railway, some fiber optic cables of the network operator Deutsche Telekom was cut off by the excavator.

This disruption of the communication system has affected a large area in the city of Frankfurt am Main, especially in the north of the city.

A series of flights of Lufthansa Group airlines have been canceled or delayed.

Organ air traffic control of Germany decided to direct planes to Frankfurt airport to move to other airports such as Nürnberg, Cologne or Düsseldorf due to lack of parking space when Lufthansa planes might not take off.

According to the network operator Deutsche Telekom, the repair of the fiber optic system will last until the followingnoon of February 15 (local time).

Lufthansa’s announcement states that a serious problem affects both check-in and boarding processes.

The number of flights delayed or canceled has not yet been determined.
