The tip-off from a friend or family member of Giacomo Bozzoli put the Carabinieri on the right track. His villa in Soiano, on Lake Garda, was the last place on the list of places where the fugitive might return. Too obvious. But someone “close to him”, as the investigators say, put the investigators on the right track. The investigators are being secretive, but the tip-off would concern some electronic device or something detectable by telematics.
The prosecutor’s office thus issues a search warrant for the reference places of the 39-year-old entrepreneur, sentenced to life imprisonment for killing his uncle in the family business, then fled to Spain and finally returned to Italy where he was captured. One detail makes it clear that Bozzoli is in the villa: the air conditioning engine is on, while the day before it was off. The detail is reported by the Corriere della sera. After half an hour of searching they found him in his underwear under the bed. “You are a man of the State, you cannot put an innocent person in jail”, he is said to have told the carabinieri of Brescia. Bozzoli claims that an Austrian witness exonerates him, and says he has sent the documents that prove it but they have not yet arrived. However, the trial is closed and the sentence is final: life imprisonment.
