Symptoms of caudal retraction syndrome
1- Deformities of the vertebral depth and lower extremities

Breathing problems, due to the effect of spinal deformities on the chest.

Horseshoe kidneys, also known as “shoe kidneys.”
– Urinary tract infection.
Sometimes kidney failure.
Abnormalities of the bladder.
Deformation of the nerves controlling bladder function.

Abnormal connection between the rectum and vagina in females.

3- Digestive tract abnormalities

Causes of caudal retraction syndrome
There is no clear cause for caudal retraction syndrome, but there is a common belief among researchers that blocking the flow of oxygenated blood to the caudal region of the fetus may be due to the following risk factors:
Gestational diabetes: 16% of children with caudal retraction syndrome had it in their mothers.
Drinking alcohol during pregnancy.
Exposure to retinoic acid.
Amino acid imbalance during pregnancy.

Diagnosis of caudal retraction syndrome
