Suffering from dementia with Lewy bodies, a syndrome sharing characteristics with Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease, Catherine Laborde has always been able to count on the support of her husband Thomas Stern. “I have never felt so much his man than in being his helper,” he confessed to Faustine Bollaert. “I had no disposition for this type of dedication. Until old age, I was selfish and narcissistic. I never thought I would get into this overtaking mechanism”.
The 79-year-old explains his 71-year-old wife’s illness by testifying in this disturbing way: “It’s a cocktail between Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, where there are motor disorders, language disorders, seizures. anxieties, hallucinations… It’s a tough painting”, he concludes. As for his wife and weather presenter, she has also been very discreet since leaving TF1. In October 2018, however, she had written a book, “Trembler”, to deliver a testimony on what she suffers from on a daily basis.
