Death Stranding 2: On the Beach will launch on PC on March 19, offering a range of graphical presets and support for multiple upscaling technologies, including the “Progressive Image Compositor,” or Pico, developed by Guerrilla Games.
The PC release, handled by Nixxes Software in collaboration with Kojima Productions, provides four graphics presets – Minimum, Medium, High/Recommended, and Incredibly High – targeting performance levels from 1080p at 30 frames per second to 4K at 60 frames per second. Nixxes aims to deliver a smooth experience with the best possible visuals across a variety of hardware configurations, according to a statement from Julian Huijbregts, Communications Manager at Nixxes.
Beyond standard options, Death Stranding 2 for PC will feature NVIDIA DLSS 4, AMD FSR 4, and Intel XeSS 2 for upscaling and frame generation. Notably, this marks the first time Pico, Guerrilla’s in-engine upscaling technology used in the PlayStation 5 version of the game, will be available to PC players. The inclusion of Pico provides an additional option for performance enhancement alongside the established cross-vendor solutions.
Recommended system requirements for the High preset include an Intel Core i5-11400 or AMD Ryzen 5 5600 processor, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 12GB or AMD Radeon RX 6600 graphics card, and 16GB of RAM. The Very High preset, targeting 4K resolution at 60 FPS, requires an Intel Core i7-11700 or AMD Ryzen 7 5700X processor, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 or AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT graphics card, and also 16GB of RAM.
The game requires a minimum of 150GB of SSD storage regardless of the chosen graphics preset. A “Portable” preset is also included, designed for handheld gaming devices.
Nixxes Software has a history of both successful and challenging PC porting experiences, raising the stakes for a smooth launch given the ambitious technical feature set of Death Stranding 2. The publisher has not yet commented on potential post-launch patching needs.
