At the Porsche European Open in Green Eagle near Hamburg, two Germans shine with strong second places, and we can also look back on two real highlights in the USA with the Memorial Tournament and the Mizuho Americas Open. The tour review.

DP World Tour: Porsche European Open

Green Eagle Golf Courses, Hamburg

At the end of an exciting final day it is enough for Marcel Siem and Maximilian Kieffer not quite. Northern Ireland’s Tom McKibbin, just 20, has nerves of steel as he wins his first major title.

Even before the start of the final round on Sunday, there was a lot to be said for a tight race for victory at the 40th Porsche European Open. Not only were six players tied at the top of the field on day three. Several pros were hot on the heels of the leading sextet, who was six under par before the final lap. Among them: Marcel Siem and Maximilian Kieffer, who started their final rounds only one and two strokes (Kieffer) behind in first place.

LPGA Tour: Mizuho Americas Open

Liberty National Golf Club, New Jersey

Esther Henseleit finds its shape. At the Mizuho Americas Open, held under the patronage of Michelle Wie West, the 24-year-old German comes with (rounds of 77, 66, 69 and 73 strokes) 285 strokes (-3) on the shared 17. Rang and thus achieves her second top 20 result in the current LPGA season. For Henseleit, the only German currently active on the American LPGA Tour – Caro Masson is on a baby break – the season in the USA has been mixed so far. She had traveled to the Liberty National Golf Club near Manhattan with a record of four missed cuts from seven tournament starts. A shared 13th place finish in April at the Lotte Championship was her best result to date.

In New Jersey, too, things got off to a rocky start for her. After a 77 (+5) on day one of the Mizuho Americas Open, there was a risk of early departure. But on the second day of the tournament, Henseleit turned up the heat, was one of the best players of the day with her 66 (-6) and made it into the top 25. She used the moving day with a 69 (-3) for a further improvement on the leaderboard. On the final day, the birdie putts just wouldn’t fall and Henseleit had to settle for a 73 (+1).

Rose Zhang from the USA was able to win the tournament, beating her compatriot Jennifer Kupcho in the jump-off.

PGA Tour: The Memorial Tournament

Muirfield Village Golf Club, Ohio

Stephen Jaeger delivers a strong performance at the high-class Memorial Tournament and finishes the tournament on a shared 24th place. Jack Nicklaus’ invitational tournament played for a prize pool of US$20 million. Jäger did well on the challenging Muirfield Village course, using 72, 70 and 71 strokes over the first three days and starting the final round in 14th place. A 76 (+4) on the final day prevented Jäger from even better placement. The man from Munich can look forward to a prize money of 163,000 dollars and important points in the FedEx Cup ranking.

The traditional tournament was decided in a jump-off between Viktor Hovland and Denny McCarthy (USA), with the better end for the Norwegian.

Korn Ferry Tour: NC Health Championship

Raleigh Country Club, North Carolina, 1. bis 4. Juni

While his twin brother Yannik teeed up at DP World at the Porsche European Open, played JeremyPaul on the Korn Ferry Tour in North Carolina. Although things initially went much better for him than for his brother, who finished 66th at the tournament in Hamburg, Jeremy shouldn’t be completely satisfied with his final performance either. A 73 (+3) on day four sent him from seventh to tied 23. Rang fallen.

Paul’s goal is to finish the season in the top 30 on the Korn Ferry Tour and thereby qualify for the PGA Tour. After completing the NC Health Championship, he is ranked 45th.
