Catastrophic Hurricane Otis Leaves Death and Desolation in Mexico: Shaila Dúrcal’s In-laws Missing

The passage of Hurricane Otis through Mexico has left death and desolation everywhere. The Pacific coast of the Central American country, especially the Acapulco area, has suffered great damage due to wind gusts that exceeded 330 kilometers per hour. In addition, the rains and waves have contributed to the generation of a meteorological hell that has killed more than thirty people, several disappearances and almost a million people incommunicado.

Two of the people who have not been heard from since the hurricane appeared were Shaila Dúrcal’s in-laws. The parents of her husband, Dorio Ferreira, residents of Acapulco, have not given any sign of life since last October 26. A fact that has left the couple “very overwhelmed,” as Rocío Dúrcal’s daughter, Carmen Morales, has said.

“The skinny guy’s parents, my brother-in-law, live there and have no communication. They have not known if they are well or not for more than 24 hours,” Morales continued during an event in Madrid. “They want to go there next week because of this, because there is no communication and they want to help because the city is destroyed. There is no communication, nothing is known and it is very frustrating,” he added.

Your last call

Shortly before the hurricane took away everything in its path, Dúrcal called his mother-in-law in a call in which she expressed the terror she was suffering from the wind. “She told him that she was very scared and that she was afraid, and she cut off communication,” Morales explained.

So far, neither Shaila Dúrcal nor Dorio Ferreira have spoken publicly, but their sister insists on the need to “be able to communicate.” “The images of the city are horrible,” Morales concluded, exemplifying the version of him in a luxury hotel where his father was and which has been completely destroyed.
