Before the start of the qualifying rounds for Euro 2024, the Polish national team was the favorite for direct promotion. She was included in the dream group and had no problem defeating the Czech Republic, Albania, Moldova and the Faroe Islands. The reality turned out to be completely different. The Reds and Whites won only three out of eight games, scoring only 11 points in total. This was not enough to advance directly to the event in Germany. Their last hopes were deprived of them by a 1-1 draw with Jaroslav Silhavi’s players, and they could only watch the last Monday matches, which decided the order in the group, as spectators.

Just before the end of the qualifying round, Albania secured promotion to the Euro. Therefore, she could approach the last match as a sparring match. Especially since it was against the Faroe Islands. Ultimately, the match did not impress and ended in a goalless draw.

Thus, the Czech national team won 3-0 and took second place in group E. It was our southern neighbors, together with Albania, that advanced to Euro 2024. Poland ultimately finished the competition in third place. Moldova was fourth, and the Faroe Islands, which failed to win the qualifying round, were fifth. However, they recorded two draws, which should also be considered a success.
