Asmodee Digital, the publisher of Catan on Nintendo Switch, announced some very sad news on Twitter.
On August 4, 2022, Catan’s online multiplayer will be disabled. According to Asmodee, this is a direct consequence of the GameSparks server shutdown. GameSparks is an external service from Amazon that is essential for Catan’s online multiplayer. Although this is a huge disappointment, there is a little good news. Anyone who hasn’t yet picked up Catan on Nintendo Switch is going to be able to do so at a cheaper price. Asmodee will drop the price from €20 to €15 due to the loss of online multiplayer. Good news so if you have not yet cracked on this opus.
